Everyone says their app is secure. Here is what ours actually does, including the part that is uncomfortable to admit.
Locked in the database, not just the app
Every table we have has row level security switched on. A query signed in as another couple cannot return your rows. Postgres enforces that, not our code, so it holds even on the day we ship a bug.
You are the customer, not the inventory
Apps that hold your private life for free usually pay for themselves by mining it. We have no ads business, no analytics product, and no data partners. Pro is how Tandem pays for itself, which is why reading your letters could never make us money.
We are not end-to-end encrypted
Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest, the same standard Instagram, Notion, and Google Photos hold. But we hold the keys to our own database. Every app that can restore your account after you lose your phone is telling you this. Most just do not say it.
Leaving takes one button
Delete your space in Settings and the rows, the photo and letter files, and both sign-in accounts are destroyed. It takes both of you to agree and we hold it for seven days first, so nobody can erase the other in a bad moment.
